The Trenton High School tennis team was on the road Thursday, traveling to Cameron to take on the Dragons. The Bulldogs just missed a dual victory, however, falling 5-4.
Trenton took two of three in doubles’ action as Jacob Davis and Nick Shields won 7-5, Bryce Whitney and Kade Ockenfels lost 6-3 and Creed Houghton and Wyatt Neal won 6-1.
Singles’ action was a different story, however, as Cameron controlled most matches. Davis fell 6-3 and Shields lost 6-4 at numbers one and two, respectively. Whitney picked up a 6-3 win at number three, but Ockenfels and Houghton both lost 6-1. Neal closed singles’ play with a 6-0 win, but the dual belonged to Cameron.
With the loss, Trenton fell to 4-7 overall in dual action, while Cameron improved to 5-6 with the win.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Trenton’s JV squad swept the Dragon’s JV, taking two singles matches and one doubles’ match. Dylan May and CJ Sibbit each won a 6-0 singles match and then the two combined for a 6-0 doubles victory to close out the JV match.
