Norma Jane “Peggy” Chumbley, a 96-year-old resident of Mesa, AZ, died on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Chumbley will be burried later this year at the Maple Grove Cemetery at Trenton beside her husband, Gene Chumbley.
Mrs. Chumbley was born on April 27, 1920 in St. Joseph, the daughter of William Henry and Ella Cox, and was the next to the youngest of 10 children. In addition to dancing, she enjoyed golf, bowling, crocheting and bridge and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Most importantly, she loved being with family.
On Aug. 21, 1940 she was married to Franklin Eugene “Gene” Chumbley of Trenton. Following her husband’s passing in 1990, she moved to Mesa, and continued her very active lifestyle, making many new and dear friends there. Some of her favorite times were following her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities.
