The Grundy County Nursing Home District Board of Directors and Senior City, Inc. held their annual meeting on Monday, April 18 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.
New director Sherry Knapp was welcomed and Barbara Cox administered the oath of office. Following the appointment of directors, officers were elected for both entities and include Jim Cox, chairman; Brigette Bunnell, vice chairman; Barbara Cox, secretary/treasurer; and district attorney Tara Walker, assistant secretary/treasurer.
During the nursing home district board meeting, the 2016-2017 preliminary budget was presented. Members discussed the planned activities of the tax levy committee regarding the 15-cent tax levy increase to be placed on the November ballot.
Administrator Donita Youtsey presented the administrator and RCF reports. Highlights included planned activities for the Mother’s Day luncheon and Nursing Home Week. The community is invited to come and join in any or all the fun events during Nursing Home Week. including a balloon release at 10 a.m. on May 10. Coffee and donuts for the community will be served.
The board discussed the new addition of mental health care for residents and families via a visiting in-house physician or by tele-med. There was also discussion of the positive progress in the limited adult day care services at the nursing home.
The board went into closed session and approved the March 21 closed meeting minutes.
The next board meeting will be at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 16 in the conference room of the administrator’s office at the Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.
