Tennis Team Shut Out At Home By Hornets

The Trenton High School boys’ tennis team had a rough outing on Tuesday, falling 9-0 at home to Chillicothe.
The Bulldogs were swept in doubles play to open the dual as Jacob Davis and Nick Shields lost 8-1, Bryce Whitney and Kade Ockenfels fell 8-5 and Creed Houghton and Wyatt Neal lost 8-4.
Things went from bad to worse in singles play as Davis lost 10-1, Shields fell 10-0 and Whitney lost 10-1. Ockenfels made a run at number four, but came up short, falling 10-8. Houghton fell 10-3 and Neal lost 10-7 to round out the dual.
With the loss, Trenton dropped to 2-4 on the season in dual play.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Trenton’s JV didn’t fare much better, but did win a match in a 4-1 dual loss. Dylan May and Dillon Parrack combined for a 7-5 doubles win in the final JV match of the day. Other JV scores saw Parrack and May fall 6-2, CJ Sibbit and Zack Maberry lose 6-2, Jeremy Elliott and Weston Otto fall 6-0 and Colten Hamilton and Elijah Oyler lose 6-0.
UP NEXT
Trenton will look to put the loss to Chillicothe behind it on Thursday when the Bulldogs host Wentworth Military Academy at the THS tennis courts. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m.
