Lola Mae Jackson, age 101, made her journey to Heaven on April 5, 2016, with her family by her side at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
In celebration of Lola Mae Jackson’s life, on April 9, 2016, there will be a visitation at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and a graveside service at 3 p.m., where Lola Mae will be buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin.
Lola Mae was born in Gallatin on August 30, 1914 to T. Lee and Osie Rulon. She is a proud graduate of Gallatin High School. In 1931, she married Arthur Jackson. After owning, operating and selling a family diner in Gallatin, the couple purchased a farm and moved to the Gilman City area. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with their son, Henry Lee Jackson, born in 1936.
After the passing of her husband in 1957, Lola Mae moved back to Gallatin and began working at the Gallatin First National Bank. In 1994, at the young age of 80, she retired and decided to move closer to family and began living in Trenton.
Lola Mae belonged to the First Baptist Church in Gallatin and was a current member and past matron of the Sunlight Chapter of the Eastern Star since 1942. Her greatest joys in life were always her family and time spent with them. All who loved her, knew her as Granny J.
Lola Mae is survived by three grandchildren, Richard Jackson and his wife Sharon of Greenwich, CT, Melody Shipley and her husband Jerry of Galt and Mark Jackson and his wife, Lori of Cosby; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Lola Mae is preceded in death by “almost everyone” (Lola Mae’s words), including both parents, husband, son, and three siblings, Frances Briegel, Olin Rulon and Mabel Lee Wimber.
