The Trenton City Council and Mayor Dr. Nick McHargue have announced the appointment of City Clerk Cindy Simpson as the interim city administrator.
Action was taken during a closed session of the council on Monday night. Mrs. Simpson’s appointment will be affective on Monday, May 2, following the retirement of current city administrator Kerry Sampson. Her current salary is $49,681 and, with her new duties, will be increased to $63,000.
The city is still looking for a full time city administrator but wanted to wait until the election on Tuesday, April 5 and for the three new council members to begin their terms.
Following the closed session, the council also approved adding Mrs. Simpson to the checking account for the city, beginning May 2.
