Jeremy Soptic of 1805 Eastview Drive is a first-time candidate for the Trenton City Council.
Why are you seeking this position (include any concerns you may have and any changes you might be thinking of making to the office)?
I am seeking election because I believe if people my age don’t start trying to do these jobs and learn from the people currently serving we won’t have anyone with any knowledge of how the city council works in the future.
What is your background for this position (any job or training you have had in regard to the office you are seeking)?
I currently serve as a member of the Trenton City Council’s Building and Nuisance Board.
Personal information (immediate family members, spouse and children, connection to the community- are you a native and/or a THS graduate; education background, community service, etc).
I have lived and worked in Trenton my entire life. I attended Trenton schools and graduated from Trenton High School in 1996. My wife, Cindy, and I have one son, Cole, who is currently in the seventh grade at Trenton Middle School. My wife manages the Adams Park and Trenton Heights apartments and currently serves as a Chamber Ambassador. In addition to serving on the building and nuisance board, I am involved in Boy Scout Troop 97 with my son. My family and I are members of the Trenton First Assembly of God Church, where Cole is active in the Royal Rangers organization.

David Mlika of 909 E. 10th St. is a first-time candidate for the Trenton City Council.
Why are you seeking this position (include any concerns you may have and any changes you might be thinking of making to the office)?
Being a retired employee of the city and TMU, I feel I do have an understanding of how the city operates and would like to serve the voters of the third ward with a more common sense approach to the financial problems facing the city of Trenton.
Background for this position (any job or training you have had in regard to the office you are seeking).
I worked for the city of Trenton Street Department from 1981 to 1995. I transfered to the TMU Water Department in 1995 and acquired a Class A water license. I retired in 2014.
Personal information (immediate family members – spouse and children, connection to community- are you a native and/or THS graduate, education background community service etc).
I have lived in the same home with my wife, Sharon for 41 years. I graduated from Ridgeway High School and Trenton Junior College (now North Central Missouri College). I also graduated from the John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN.
