Mary Lee Bryant
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Independence. A visitation will precede the services at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Bryant was born on May 7, 1933 in Trenton, the daughter of W. Byrl and Frances Smith Huffine. She grew up in Galt and after graduation from Galt High School, she married Jim Bryant, her high school sweetheart, and relocated to Independence.
Mrs. Bryant was a loving mother who devoted her life to her three children. She was a Girl Scout leader and active in PTA. She taught Sunday school at the First Christian Church, where she and her husband have been members since 1953. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking, music, reading, the arts and was also active in the service sorority, ESA. She exhibited a strong faith and encouraged lasting character in her children. She enjoyed staying active and fit. She and her husband loved traveling the country and spending time with their family. Mary Lee will be missed for her strength and her loving, caring and creative nature.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Ronald James “Jim” Bryant; a son, Randy Bryant and his wife, Betty; a daughter, Debbie Bryant; a son, David Bryant; a sister, Ruth Bartow; sister-in-law, Dee Huffine; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Huffine; and sister, Jean Barnett.
Contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church at Independence.
