Funeral services for Bruce Edward Dittberner will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Trenton. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Norfolk, NE.
A family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the church. Open visitation begins on Thursday morning, March 17, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton.
Mr. Dittberner, a 79-year-old resident of Laredo, died at 4:36 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Mr. Dittberner was born on Sept. 23, 1936 in Madison, NE, the son of Edward George and Erma Grace Preuss Dittberner. He was married on April 29, 1961 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE to Bonna Rakowsky. He graduated from the University of Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics. He was also a veteran of the Air Force.
He enjoyed collecting tractors, tinkering, traveling to Minnesota, camping, playing cards, dancing, gardening, carpentry and raising cattle. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, the American Legion, the Laredo Lions Club, the township board and former Webelo scoutmaster.
He is survived by his wife, Bonna Dittberner of Laredo; a daughter, Barbara Harbo and her husband, Gary of Eagan, MN; a son, Brian Dittberner and wife Suzee of Kansas City, KS; a son-in-law, Jeff Maupin of Blue Springs; grandchildren, Kari Ellingsberg and her husband, Adam of Zumbrota, MN, Gary Harbo II of New Zealand, Grant and Gavin Harbo of Eagan, Abby Mikkelsen and her husband, Malcolm of Topeka, KS, BriAnna Dittberner of Topeka, KS, Luke Dittberner of Kansas City, KS, Austin Bates of Lee’s Summit and Mollie and Hannah Maupin of Blue Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brenda Maupin; and two sisters, Bonnie Spinar and Judy Dieter.
