NCMC Baseball Team Falls 2-1

Mar 9, 2016 | Baseball, Sports & Recreation

The North Central Missouri College baseball team suffered its 12th loss in a row to start the season, falling 2-1 on the road at Highland Community College in 10 innings. The game was slated for a single nine-inning contest, but it took an extra frame to break up a 1-1 tie.
NCMC struck first with a run in the third inning when Brendley Martina scored after a Highland error on a hard hit ball to third base by Cameron Dean. That was the game’s only run until the bottom of the seventh when Highland knotted up the contest with a lone run. Highland got the final run as well, winning the game with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th.
NCMC out-hit Highland 7-5, but wasn’t ever able to push a run across save for the lone mark in the third. The Pirates committed three errors to Highland’s two in the 10 innings.
Kylan Easley got the start and threw six strong frames, allowing no runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four. Cedeon Langguth yielded the Highland run in the seventh, Drew Bunch worked one and two-thirds scoreless innings and Matt Philabaun took the loss, allowing the run in the 10th.
The 0-12 Pirates will look to get things on track this weekend, hosting McHenrey Community College in the home openers on Saturday and Sunday. Both days are slated for doubleheaders and both are scheduled for noon starts.
