The Grundy R-5 Elementary Tournament came to a close on Thursday in Galt with the final four games. Laredo swept Newtown-Harris, taking the girls’ game 32-10 and the boys’ contest 17-14. Grundy and Pleasant View split with Pleasant View winning the girls’ game 25-8 and Grundy taking the boys’ contest 36-10.
The Laredo girls were paced by Hannah Bowe, who had 13 points, and Chandler Lynch and Rebecca Urich added nine and eight points respectively. Brenna Veach had six for Newtown. In the boys’ match-up, Logan Foster scored 11 and Bo Meeker added six for the Laredo boys, while Newtown got 10 points from Zack Cross.
The Pleasant View girls got 18 points from Teya Cooksey and Grundy had six from Daya Allnutt. In the boys game, Fletcher Christy had 10 for R-5 with Cole Peterson, Corbin Axtell and Aiden Rains adding seven, six and four points respectively. Kiefer Tolson led Pleasant View with six points.
