Mary Wells Sutter

Mary Wells Sutter, a 91-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders at Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, IA, with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lineville.
Open visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, at the funeral chapel, where the family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Sutter was born on Jan. 4, 1925 in Mercer, the daughter of Irl and Rosa Maude Moore Beavers. She was raised in Mercer and was a 1943 graduate of Mercer High School.
She was married on Jan. 9, 1942 to Darwin James Wells, who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1989. During World War II, she worked at an armament manufacturing plant in Davenport, Iowa. They returned to Mercer where she worked in the post office for several years, retiring from that position to raise her children. They later moved to Arizona. She was married in 1993 to Edward Sutter in Arizona, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Sutter was a member of the Mercer Christian Church. She enjoyed playing pitch and scrabble.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lori Porter and her husband, Gary of Mercer and Maria Webdale of Glendale, AZ; two sons, Marc Wells of Springfield and Michael Wells of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Marlene Stark and her husband, Everett of Mercer; two brothers, Jack Beavers and his wife, Maria of Davenport, IA and Ted Beavers and his wife, Leta of Moline, IL; two sisters-in-law, Lois and Garnet Beavers, of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bonnie Smith; and three brothers, Joe, Jim and Dennis Beavers.
