The Green Hills Recreation Association held its second meeting on Sunday at the Trenton Middle School where several items of business were discussed, including the establishment of priorities, future recreational activities and the formation of summer youth t-ball, baseball and softball teams.
Registration forms for youth baseball and softball will still be accepted until Friday, March 4. Forms can be dropped off at American Family Insurance, the Grundy County Health Department, or any Trenton school. Currently, the coaching committee is looking for additional boys age 13-14 to field a team.
All girls playing softball, ages seven-and-older, will need to provide a copy of their birth certificate. Birth certificates can be dropped off at American Family Insurance, the Grundy County Health Department, or any Trenton school. Alternatively, birth certificates can be scanned and emailed to [email protected].
All summer coaches have a mandatory meeting on Sunday, March 6 at 5 p.m. in the TMS/THS Media Center. During the coaches meeting, information for background checks will be collected and drafts will be held for all age groups above t-ball. As of Feb. 28, there are 308 players signed up for t-ball, baseball and softball, forming 29 teams overall.
In an effort to communicate with the public, Green Hills Recreation Association has created a website and a number of social media accounts. The website will be used for information regarding leagues, including registration and schedules. The website can be accessed at http://bit.ly/ghra16. Persons can also follow the Facebook page Green Hills Recreation Association and @ghra16 on Twitter.
The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 in the THS Spanish room.
