Feb 29, 2016 | Headline News

Help will be available in Trenton during the month of March to assist veterans with paperwork and other issues.
The officer will be at the VFW Hall in Trenton from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 4 and at Trenton Hy-Vee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 7. Persons needing assistance are to bring all VA paperwork they have as well as military separation paperwork. In addition, a veterans center counselor will be available on March 7, beginning at 10 a.m. and will stay until all military personnel have been seen.
In addition, veterans are reminded that a VA shuttle is available from Trenton. To schedule a ride, persons can call 359-2078. Rides are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so persons are asked to schedule a ride as soon as their appointment is known. A $10 charge is assessed for each direction, with a total not to exceed $20. Donations are welcome to help with those persons who may need monetary assistance. No veteran will be turned away because of an inability to pay.
Volunteers are also being sought to serve as shuttle drivers. Individuals must be able to pass a physical and a background check.
For more information about being a volunteer or about available veterans services in general, persons can call 359-2078.
