Ada M. Meighen, a 96-year-old resident of Spickard, died on Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, 2016 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at the Spickard Christian Church, Spickard with Bro. Duane Campbell and David Binkley officiating. Burial will be in the Berry Cemetery, north of Galt.
There is no scheduled family visitation at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Meighen was born on Jan. 22, 1920 on the family farm in the North Evans community, east of Spickard, the daughter of Leslie and Ina Young Vandevender. She attended Oak Ridge rural school and Tindall schools.
She was a member of Spickard Christian Church of Spickard.
She was married on April 25, 1946 in Troy, KS to Hudson Meighen, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Richard “Dick” Meighen and his wife, Linda of Spickard and Steven Meighen and his wife, Nancy of North Kansas City; four grandchildren, Barbara Evans and her husband, William of Warrensburg, Kurt Meighen and his wife, April of Princeton, Stefanie Acosta and her husband, Oscar of North Kansas City and Niki Parr of Chillicothe; and five great-grandchildren, Hannah Kate Meighen of Princeton, Kaylin Faith Evans and William Alexander Evans of Warrensburg, and Kyra Lee Acosta and Makayla Mae Acosta of North Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Russell Wayne Parr; one sister, Loraine Gass; and two brothers, Richard and Juddie Vandevender.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Advantage of Gallatin, and may be left at the funeral home.
