The Grundy County Commission has closed a bridge in Madison Township after a state inspection deemed the bridge unsafe.
The closure was done during a meeting on Tuesday. According to County Clerk Betty Spickard, the commission will be meeting with engineers regarding replacement of the bridge, located on SW 24th St. The work is to be done by the county bridge crew.
In other action taken by the commission, Jackie Wyant of Trenton was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Families and Friends of the Developmentally Disabled of Grundy County. She replaces Bill Swopes and will serve until December 2018. Associate Commissioner Gene Wyant abstained from the voting as Mrs. Wyant is his daughter-in-law.
