Funeral services for Vernetta Mae Davis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the mortuary. Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.
Mrs. Davis, an 88-year-old Trenton resident, died at 12:20 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, surrounded by her family at home, where she was under hospice care.
Mrs. Davis was born on Dec. 6, 1927 near Spickard in Grundy County, the daughter of Harold and Hattie Howe Buckland. She graduated from Trenton High School. She worked for Dr. Kimberly, Trenton National Bank and the Supply Store before moving to Jamesport. She and her husband, Clifford owned a plumbing, heating and hardware business for 20 years. They raised four children and divorced in 1971. She sold the store and worked for Home Exchange Bank, Gables, Ellis Antiques, Bill McAlister Auctioneers, Ray Pettit Auctioneers and Jamesport Grocery. She moved to Trenton in 2005.
Surviving relatives include her children, Kathy Davis and her companion, Tony of Johnson City, IN, Davey Davis and his wife, Linda of Jamesport, Kenny Davis and his wife, Ann of Trenton and Tammy Gordon and her husband, Curtis of Kirksville; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Randy Crow and Rick Crow and families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Crow; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Crow; and a niece, Pat Crow.
