Delois Elaine Whitt, an 82-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at the nursing home, where she had resided since May 18, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at Trenton. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
There will be a private inurnment at Salem Cemetery, north of Trenton, at a later date.
Ms. Whitt was born on Nov. 21, 1933, in Brimson, the daughter of William Oren and Elma Roberta Pollard Whitt. Ms. Whitt attended Trenton High School and was in the class of 1951. She retired in November 1998 after many years of employment from Trenton Foods. After retirement, she became interested in genealogy and did extensive research on many of her ancestral names including the Whitts, Pollards, Waldens, Stills, Coles, Meeks and numerous others. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends, many from her high school class of 1951 and being an active member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Wayne Crawford and Robert Gail Crawford, both of St. Joseph; a daughter Connie Elaine Crawford Hunter of Osborn; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, William Ronald Whitt of Kansas City; and two nieces, Allison Whitt Leftwich of Arlington, VA and Suzanne Whitt of Kansas City.
Ms. Whitt was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Waymon LaVern Whitt.
The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Fund. They may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
