The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates were handed a loss Wednesday night on the road in Nevada. The Lady Pirates matched up with Cottey College in their final Region 16 contest of the regular season and fell 71-67.
NCMC fell behind 14-10 in the opening frame but kept within striking distance and still trailed by just four points at halftime. In the third quarter, Cottey College doubled their advantage and then held on as the Lady Pirates made a push in the final frame. In the end, NCMC came up four points short.
Siera Glassford led the Lady Pirates with 18 points and McKinley Hurley followed with 12. NCMC also got 10 points from Asia Young.
With the loss, the Lady Pirates fell to 7-20 on the season and wrapped up region play with a 2-6 mark. The 2-6 mark give NCMC the four seed in the Region 16 Tournament.
North Central will take on North Arkansas in the regular season finale Saturday at home in the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton. Action tips off at 2 p.m. with the women’s contest and the North Central men will follow at 4 o’clock.
Saturday will be Booster Club Appreciation Day at the Ketcham Community Center. A hospitality room for NCMC boosters will open at 1:30 in the Sugg Room at the KCC. Food, snacks and drinks will be made available for all current NCMC boosters. The room will be open until games’ end.
Also Saturday, the Midwest Dancesynergy dance club of Trenton will be performing multiple routines at halftime of each game.
