Funeral services for Helen Lucille McCombs Abbey will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Abbey, an 80-year-old Trenton resident, died at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at Livingston Manor Care Center in Chillicothe.
Mrs. Abbey was born on Jan. 1, 1936 in Trenton, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Johnson McCombs. She was married in Trenton on April 1, 1956 to Keith E. Abbey, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2014. Together they farmed most of their lives and Mrs. Abbey worked at Carnation (Trenton Foods) until her retirement.
Surviving family members include her son, Michael Abbey and his wife, Carole of Chillicothe; two granddaughters, Crystal Bryant of Dawn and Rachel Snider and her husband, Alan of Chillicothe; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Abbey Bryant and Audrey, Andrew and Aaron Snider; a sister, Hildred Beverage and her husband, Bobby of Wichita, KS; a sister-in-law, Irene Abbey of Shenandoah, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her parents and husband.
Memorial donations are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital. They may be left or mailed to the mortuary.
