When Gilman City plays its final basketball game of the year, whenever that might be, it won’t be the last basketball game in the career of Darriane Carey. The Lady Hawk signed a national letter of intent to continue her basketball playing career at Graceland University in Lamoni, IA. Carey signed the letter on Wednesday morning in Gilman City.
This year Carey is averaging 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.7 assists per game for the Lady Hawks. Her efforts have helped the Lady Hawks establish a 13-6 record so far on the season.
“Darriane brings to Graceland an aggressive style of defense and a quickness on offense that allows her to get to the rim,” Gilman City Head Coach Adam Clark said. “She plays with an intensity that is hard to match.”
Carey will enroll at Graceland this fall, joining the Yellow Jackets for the 2016-2017 season.
