Private applicator training and Grundy County Ag update will be held on Friday, Feb. 19 at the Hoover Theater at the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library in Trenton.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. with private applicator pesticide training and then follow with the ag update. The meeting will conclude at noon.
For growers seeking a private pesticide applicator license, a training manual is required and a fee is charged for such. Persons who have an old manual are asked to bring it so they will not be charged for a new manual.
Topics for the updates include practical agronomic recommendations to manage costs and maximize profits provided by the extension agronomist. The ag business specialist will present information on leases, input costs, taxes and breakeven costs. Livestock specialists will discuss the new veterinary feed directive for antibiotics. A resource engineer specialist will provide an update on research conducted at the Graves Chapple Research Center. Horticulture will provide an area insect pest update and latest developments in agroforestry.
For more information, persons can contact Wayne Flanary, regional agronomist, at 660-446-3724.
