The Building and Nuisance Board of the Trenton City Council was busy on Monday night, taking action on several properties.
The board declared nuisances on properties at 507 Main St., owned by Don Johnson; 1904 Lulu St., owned by David Robinson; and 2211 Oak St., owned by Leroy and Sharon Burkeybile.
Public hearings were held on five properties, with four of the properties being moved forward to the next step in the city’s process. They include 309 W. 18th St., owned by the Arbuckle estate; 1002 W. 14th St., owned by Bob Morgans/Duane Counts; 1314 Merrill St., owned by Steve Oakleaf; and 1922 Oak St., owned by Garrett VanHoutan.
The other property at 111 W. 11th St. is owned by Tammy Posey, who requested and was given an additional 30 days to either begin renovation work or sell the property. She is to meet with Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer Donnie Vandevender this week to come up with a plan regarding what needs to be done.
Findings of facts were completed on five properties, including 120 Highland St./Trailer 19, owned by Robert Spencer; 306 E. 10th St., owned by Steve Muff; 402 E. 17th St., owned by Penny Bell; 600 Normal St., owned by Doug Little; and 3400 Serendipity Lane, owned by Lee and Meleeta Hines.
A certificate of nuisance was also declared on property at 1428 Chestnut, owned by Lyle Investments.
Vandevender reported that the city’s demolition project continues to move forward, with asbestos abatement being done on two of the proprieties. He also reported that the city has been dealing with falling bricks at the former American Legion Building as well as 611 Main St., which houses This and That.
Police Chief Tommy Wright reported that the police department filed 110 nuisance violations during 2015.
