Mercer Girls 80

The Mercer girls coasted past an overmatched Northwestern squad Monday night in the first round of the Meadville Tournament.
Lindsay Wyatt led the way for the Lady Cardinals (15-0), scoring 27 points to go with five rebounds, six assists and five steals. Bailey Owens added 20 points, five assists, three steals and two blocked shots and Esabel Holt had 14 points and six rebounds. Mercer also got double digits from Breanna Main, who had 10 points and Nicole Kost finished with just three points but tallied eight assists, six rebounds and two two steals. Morgan Eastin and Emily Sample each had three points as well.
Mercer will be in semifinal action on Thursday in Meadville at 4:30 p.m.
Mercer Boys 71
Bucklin/Macon Co. Boys 26

The Mercer boys stormed past first-round opponent Bucklin/Macon County on Monday night at the Meadville Tournament. The Cardinals took a 27-7 lead in the opening quarter and dominated the contest from start to finish. Mercer’s defense never let Bucklin/Macon County score more than eight points in a single quarter, taking the game by 45 points.
Trey Wilson led Mercer (14-1) with 13 points while Cash Hartley and Alec Patterson each finished with 12 points. Hartley added seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and a blocked shot. Grey Porter added nine points and Bryer Noe finished with eight points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Galt Porter had nine rebounds for Mercer.
With the win, Mercer moves to the tournament semifinals. They will play on Thursday in Meadville at 5:45 p.m.
Princeton Girls 49
Union Star Girls 24

The Princeton Lady Tigers slowly built a lead in the first half of their first-round match-up with Union Star on Monday night at the Gilman City Tournament and then crushed their opponents in the second. Princeton led 18-13 at the break before outscoring Union Star 31-11 in the second half.
Haley Johnson had 15 points to pace the Lady Tigers (6-8) and Payton Goodin added nine in the victory.
The win moved the Lady Tigers into the tournament semifinals, where they will be in action on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Gilman City.
Princeton Boys 64
Union Star Boys 17

The Princeton boys made short work of Union Star in the first round of the Gilman City Tournament on Monday night, running out to a 16-2 first quarter lead and pushing the advantage to 35-7 by halftime. The Tigers had no trouble closing out the win in the second half, cruising to the 47-point win, their sixth-straight victory.
Stephan Elliott had 24 to lead Princeton (9-6) and Andrew Smith added 12. Calvin Berwanger finished with nine points for Princeton.
The Princeton boys will be back in Gilman City on Thursday, playing in the tournament semifinals at 5:45 p.m.
East Harrison Boys 62
Tri-County Boys 15

The Tri-County boys were handed a loss in the opening round of the Gilman City Tournament on Monday night, falling to East Harrison. The Mustangs fell behind 24-4 in the opening frame and never recovered, falling by 47 points.
Dakota Leach scored 10 points in the loss to pace the Mustangs (0-13).
The loss drops Tri-County to the consolation semifinals, where they will play on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.

Gilman City Girls 44

The Gilman City girls dug themselves in a hole early but an 18-10 run in the third quarter allowed the Lady Hawks to take a one-point edge into the final frame. That would not last as foul trouble bit the Lady Hawks, allowing North Harrison to steal the win by six points.
“Early fouls came back to bite us in the end,” Gilman City Head Coach Adam Clark said. “Our defense throughout the ball game was sluggish, but despite those problems we stayed in the ballgame and had the lead at the end of the third quarter. However, the fourth quarter would bring more foul trouble that we could not recover from.”
Gilman (9-4, 1-1 HDC) was paced by Darriane Carey who had 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Saige Holmes added 10 points, six rebounds and two assists and Hailey Burrows had nine points.

North Harrison Boys 16

The Gilman City boys handled the Shamrocks with ease on the road, cruising to the win. Gilman led early, but a 28-8 run in the second quarter blew the game open.
Shane Arnold went for 24 points to pace the Hawks, who also got 15 from Cornelius Peery and 11 from Mitchell Sievering. Kaleb Bjornlie added nine, Skylar Reynolds had eight and Trayce Fehring finished with seven for the Hawks (5-8, 2-0 HDC).

Milan Girls 43

The Princeton girls picked up a close win over future GRC foe Milan on Friday night at Milan. Princeton got 12 points each from Savannah Millburn and Payton Goodin to lift the Lady Tigers to the victory.

Milan Boys 55

The Princeton boys earned a big win over Milan Friday night on the road.
Elliott led Princeton with a game-high 38 points. Hunter Boxley added 15 points for Princeton, Logan Dunkin had 13 and Blaine Millburn finished with nine.
