Former North Central Missouri College pitcher James Ball is moving up the baseball ladder, signing a contract with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.
Ball pitched for the Pirates during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, working primarily as the team’s closer. Ball signed with William Woods University following his time with the Pirates and currently ranks second in all-time saves for the Owls with 21.
In Traverse City, Ball joins a team that captured the 2015 Frontier League championship. The team is based out of Traverse City, MI
“Ball has the bulldog mentality that I’m always looking for,” Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel said. “He has a high baseball IQ and knows how to get hitters out.”
Ball and the Beach Bums open the season on Friday, May 13, traveling to face the Southern Illinois Miners in Marion, IL.
