The Laredo Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday night, replacing a board member and setting a special meeting.
According to City Clerk Ashley Boren, the board appointed Bruce McFie to the board of alderman to fill the vacancy left by Cassie Bethards, who resigned last month. He will fill the seat until the April election. He was the only interested candidate.
McFie and Helen Golden have filed for the two open alderman positions for the April election. Mrs. Golden has been on the board the last two years. The current mayor, Carol Holloway, has also filed for re-election. These are the only three filings at this time. Filing ends at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at city hall.
There will be a special meeting of the board of aldermen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26 to interview three engineering firms for an upcoming lagoon update project. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
