The Trenton R-9 Board of Education has approved implementation of a boys baseball program for the 2016-17 school year.
During a meeting on Tuesday night, the board voted 7-0 to approve the program, which would begin in the spring of 2017. Athletic Director Wes Croy told board members that a survey conducted showed more than enough boys expressing their interest in participating in the program and that the financial cost for the program could be handled by the district. He noted that seven of the schools in the new Grand River Conference have plans to have boys baseball during the spring season with another two programs looking at adding baseball in the future.
