Princeton Splits With Hardin-Central At NCMC

The Princeton Tigers were in action on Saturday at North Central Missouri College’s Holiday Hoops taking on Hardin-Central in a girls-boys doubleheader. Princeton took the girls’ game 40-37, but the Tigers dropped the boys’ contest, 42-37.
In the girls’ contest, Princeton trailed 7-4 after the first quarter, but found its offense in the second, rallying to take a 15-14 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers would push the lead to 31-24 in the third quarter and then held off Hardin-Central, stopping the rally three points short for the win.
The win was the third on the season for the Lady Tigers, pushing their record to 3-5 overall on the season.
Haley Johnson led Princeton in the win with 14 points and Payton Goodin added nine points and Vivian Allen finished with eight. Rounding out the Lady Tigers’ total were Jaelyn Steeby-Thomas with five points and Maddie Enright and Savannah Millburn with two points each.
The boys’ game was close as well, but the Tigers couldn’t quite pull out the victory in the end. No individual scores were available from the boys’ contest as of press time.
Princeton fell to 3-5 overall on the season with the loss.
Both the Lady Tigers and Tigers will be back on the court on Tuesday night, kicking off Grand River Conference play on the road in Polo. Action tips off at 6 p.m. with the girls’ game and the boys’ contest will follow.
