Jarvis Ferguson, an 84-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mr. Ferguson was born on Jan. 24, 1931 in Grundy County, the son of Roy and Pauline Woods Ferguson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was married to Doris Ratliff on July 17, 1951. Other than his military service, he was a lifelong resident of Grundy County. He served on various farm organizations throughout his farming career. He was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church, serving as a deacon since 1966. His pride and joy was raising and showing registered Belgian horses.
Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Doris of Trenton; his children, David Ferguson and his wife, Vicki of Trenton, Gary Ferguson of Trenton, Brenda Baker and her husband, Evan of Smithville and Alan Ferguson and his wife, Sabra of Trenton; two sisters, Mary Lawson of Clinton and Martha Peters of Cameron; a brother, Roy Ferguson Jr. of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and a daughter-in-law, Lianne Ferguson.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Alan and Sabra Ferguson, 3607 E. 28th St. in Trenton.
