Mark A. Spears, a 51-year-old resident of Kingsville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at Meadow View of Harrisonville in Harrisonville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Spickard Baptist Church with Charlie Bullman officiating.
Dixon Munday gave the eulogy. Special music was provided by recordings of “How Great Thou Art”, “On Eagles Wings”, “The Dash” and “When I Get Where I’m Going.”
Pallbearers were Dixon Munday, Larry Baker, Alex Baker, Jaron Rhea, Charles Price, and Doug Frank Spears.
Military graveside services were conducted by Princeton VFW Post No. 7159 at the Spickard Masonic Cemetery, Spickard, under the direction of the Slater Funeral Home at Trenton.
Mr. Spears was born on June 25, 1964 in Trenton, the son of Jimmie Hardin and Mary Katherine “Kathy” Poweleit Spears. He attended Spickard schools and graduated from Trenton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was also employed by Stalls MFG. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a fan of the Kansas City Royals.
He was a member of Spickard Baptist Church of Spickard.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Kathy and Wayne Rorebeck of Trenton; one sister, Audra Baker and her husband, Larry of Princeton; two nieces, Nina Rhea and her husband, Jaron of Princeton and Brooke Baker of Princeton; one nephew, Alex Baker of Trenton; two great-nephews; Noah Rhea and Rhylan Rhea of Princeton; and his life partner, Jody Gray of Kingsville.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica Spears; and his father, Jimmie Spears.
Memorials are suggested to the Spickard Baptist Church, Spickard Masonic Cemetery or American Cancer Society and may be left at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
