Fire Claims Life Of Trenton Woman

Nov 25, 2015 | Articles

A Trenton woman who was injured in a fire earlier this week has died.
Janeen Batson passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the University of Kansas Medical Center from injuries she sustained in a house fire on Monday afternoon. The blaze, which occurred at her home at 1909 Winchester, has been ruled “undetermined” following an investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
According to Trenton Firefighter Doug Franklin, the cause was ruled undetermined, but careless smoking could not be ruled out as a cause. The fire apparently started near the front door of the home. Mrs. Batson, who was home at the time, was legally blind and had been using a wheelchair in recent days due to an injury to her foot.
