Building, Nuisance Board Meets

Nov 24, 2015 | Headline News

The Building and Nuisance Board of the Trenton City Council met on Monday night, taking action on several structures.
A property at 111 W. 11th St., owned by Tammy Posey, was declared a public nuisance and approved for a public hearing to be held at the December meeting. Action on two other properties, 309 W. 18th St. and 1922 Oak St., was delayed until the Dec. 28 meeting.
A public hearing was held on property at 1428 Chestnut. Building Inspector Donnie Vandevender said he has met with owner Ann Plumb and developed a timeline for repairs to be made to the structure. The board voted to file facts and findings on the structure, which is the next step in the process although the timeline has been put in place.
The board voted to allow three to four of the owners of property to be demolished in the city’s demolition program to pay at least 50 percent of the cost they owe at this time and allow Vandevender to set up a payment plan to get the rest of the money. If the money is not paid back, the city would place a lien on the property. The names of the property owners were not announced.
Vandevender gave an update on current structures and brought two more to the board for consideration. The board voted to proceed on properties at 1314 Merrill St. and 2211 Oak St.
The next meeting of the Building and Nusiance Board is scheduled for Mnday, Dec. 28.
