Sharon Kay Karns, a 70-year-old resident of Lineville, IA, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 at the Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines, IA.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, with Pastor Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.
Open visitation is under way at the funeral home, where the family visitation will be from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Nov. 23, 2015).
Mrs. Karns was born on Aug. 6, 1945 in Trenton, the daughter of Howard Curtis “Hank” and Helen Manchester Wilson. She attended school in Mercer, then later moved with her parents to Lineville, where she was a 1963 graduate of Lineville High School. She lived most of her life in Lineville.
She was married on Dec. 20, 1964 at Lineville to Stephen, K. Karns, who survives of the home.
She was the head teller with the Citizens State Bank in Corydon, IA and later moved her employment to the Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri in Mercer, where she retired as a loan officer on Dec. 31, 2012.
Besides her career in banking, she enjoyed many kinds of crafts, camping and traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a son, Shane Karns and his wife, Sue of Ames, IA; a daughter, Sindi Day and her husband, Tony of West Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren, Parker and Regan Day and Courtney Karns; her two sisters, Judy Wilson and her husband, Lanny Rockhold of Pleasant Hill, IA and Debra Jones and her husband, Steve of Des Moines; a brother-in-law, Pat Karns and his wife, Kay of Nixa; a sister-in-law, Pam Garton and her husband, Darrill of Springfield; and nieces, nephews, other relatives friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Central Iowa. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
