Nov 18, 2015 | Basketball, Sports & Recreation

The Trenton Middle School basketball teams opened play in the Princeton Middle School Tournament on Tuesday night, taking on South Harrison in the opening round of the four-team tournament. The Trenton girls were able to advance to Thursday’s girls’ championship game with a dominating 42-7 victory over South Harrison. The Trenton boys, however, suffered a 33-14 loss and will play for third on Thursday.
In the girls game, Trenton was paced by Haley Kidd, who led all scorers with 11 points. Allena Allen added nine points and Maci Henson finished with six.
“We used a stifling defense and good passing to build the win,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach Mitchell Holder said. “Again, we showed improvement.”
With the win, The TMS girls pushed their record to 3-0 overall on the season.
The Trenton boys found points hard to come by against South Harrison and trailed 12-5 after the first quarter and 18-7 at halftime. Trenton was only able to double that production in the second half, falling by 19 points.
Carson Burchett led Trenton, scoring seven points for half of the team’s total. With the loss, the TMS boys fell to 0-3 on the season.
Trenton’s teams wrap up play in the Princeton Tournament on Thursday.
