A Newtown woman escaped serious injury after her vehicle struck a cow in the roadway early Sunday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a car driven by Krista Hague was eastbound on Route E 11 miles southeast of Princeton. Her vehicle struck a heifer that was in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the road and struck a fence before coming to rest on its wheels facing east. The vehicle was totaled but Ms. Hague, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained only minor injuries. She was transported by Mercer County EMS to the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. J.A. Pithan, with assistance from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
