The Trenton Police Department has announced that 30 year old David Wayne Manus of Trenton has been charged in Grundy County in connection with the abduction incident that occurred on October 27.
Manus’ charges include Enticement of a Child, Sexual Misconduct, and Child Kidnapping, all felonies. Manus allegedly told the nine-year-old victim that he knew her parents and asked if she wanted a ride to school. She got into his vehicle and he took her to the Missouri Department of Conservation Mockingbird Hill River Access area near the old Charlie Dye Bridge. He allegedly exposed himself to the child, who became upset. He then took her to the driveway of Hodge Presbyterian Church off Cedar Street and dropped her off. She ran to the bus stop on Crowder Road while Manus allegedly drove away, traveling west.
Manus has not been taken into custody at the time of this press release. According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Manus, who is listed on the Grundy County Sex Offender Registry, has been in contact with Sheriff Rodney Herring but refuses to divulge his location or surrender himself. Manus is in the company of Kathryne “Kate/Katie” Ward-Ashworth, who is aiding Manus in avoiding capture.
