Martha Coon, an 86-year-old Trenton resident, died at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
No funeral service is planned. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Coon was born on Sept. 17, 1929 in Laredo, the daughter of Nova and Maude Meeker Wingate. She graduated from Spickard High School.
She was married on July 23, 1948 in Trenton to Ray Coon, who preceded her in death. She owned and operated Brown’s Dress Store as well as doing the secretary work for Coon’s D-X gas station. She was a member of the Trenton First Christian Church.
Surviving relatives include her son, Mark Coon of Trenton; two sisters, Gwenda Kenny of Trenton and Gwenith McCloud and her husband, Richard of Phoenix, AZ; three granddaughters, Sheila Coon of Trenton, April Coon of Trenton and Jenny Coon of Union Star; five great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Riley, Grayson, Jada and Eliza; and seven nieces, nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Monte Coon; a daughter, Michelle Coon; a sister, Anne Charlene Wingate; and two brothers, Neal and Charles Wingate.
Memorial donations are suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
