Jim George, a 74-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at his home while under hospice care.
His body was cremated under the direction of Slater Funeral Home of Trenton. A celebration of life and visitation will be held at a later date.
Mr. George was born on June 15, 1941 in Princeton, the son of Robert Donald and Opal Viola Robinson George. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1959 and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was also self-employed as a plumber for over 40 years.
He was a member of Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church, southwest of Trenton.
He was married on April 3, 1966 at Spickard to Diana Proffit, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by two daughters, Ginger Tate of Dawn and Jamie Essick of Hale; one son, Troy George of Trenton; six grandchildren, Skyler Rexing, Kip Tate, Levi Tate, Echo Essick, Evan Essick and Brock George; two sisters, Margaret George of Spickard and Patti Summers of Independence; and one brother, Rodney George and his wife, Patty of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucy Harp.
Memorials are suggested to either the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church Wednesday Night Kids Group or Hospice Advantage of Gallatin. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
