Joe Rockhold, a 1991 graduate of Trenton High School, was the speaker at Wednesday night’s THS Homecoming Pep Rally.
Named the 2015 homecoming king, a recent honor added to the homecoming festivities, was senior Cree Mullinex.
The Trenton High School Student Council hosted the homecoming pep rally, held before a packed house at the stadium. Student Council president Mariah Fox served as the master of ceremonies.
Members of the THS fall sports teams – girls softball, volleyball, tennis and golf and the boys football team – were recognized along with the THS Mascots, the THS Band and the THS cheer squad. The cheer squad also performed a dance routine.
A 1991 graduate of Trenton High School, Joe Rockhold, was the guest speaker and talked about his days as a football player with the Bulldogs. He noted that this is the 25-year anniversary of Trenton’s victory over Chillicothe, breaking a 24-year drought of football losses to the Hornets. He said that the support of the team by the community was key in helping the Bulldogs to the victory and told members of this year’s team that on Friday night they were not only playing for themselves and the school, but that they were playing for the community. He reminded the seniors that this would be their last homecoming game and to remember this time. As for the underclassmen, Rockhold said they should play hard for the seniors and show them the same respect as they would like to have when they get to be the top class on the team. He issued a challenge to the Bulldogs for their game on Friday night, stating “this is your town, this is your school, this is your field and this your game. Go Bulldogs.”
Homecoming activities continue through Friday. A parade is scheduled for 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon with the homecoming game on Friday night. Pre-game activities will start at 6:40 with kickoff at 7 o’clock. A dance in the THS gym will follow the game.
