The Trenton Fire Department is seeking youth to join the 2015-16 Fire Cadet Program, which starts on Monday, Oct. 5.
Five cadets train in various areas of emergency services such as fire suppression, emergency medical response, hazardous materials mitigation and technical rescue. Students are trained using both hands-on and lecture to obtain accredited certification.
Fire cadets must be between the ages of 14 and 21 and have completed the eighth grade. The fire cadet classes run every Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the downstairs training room of the Trenton Fire Department. The cost of the program is $25 per year and includes a t-shirt and all training.
