The Grundy County Health Department will begin offering flu vaccine on a walk-in basis every Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning on Friday, Sept. 25.
The health department will also offer an evening clinic on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m.
The high dose vaccine will be given to people age 65 and over. The quadrivalent (4 strain) vaccine is given to those under age 65. GCHD has not received its shipment of nasal FluMist but will make further announcements when FluMist is available.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends a flu shot for everyone over the age of 6 months.
GCHD will bill Medicare, Medicaid, and some health insurance; please bring your card for billing purposes. Donations will be accepted from individuals that are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or health insurance. The cost of the flu vaccine is $17.
