Jason Leroy Nickell

Sep 18, 2015 | Obituaries

A memorial service celebrating the life of Jason Leroy Nickell will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. There will be a visitation from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
Mr. Nickell, a 53-year-old resident of Galt, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015 due to a vehicle collision with a deer near Galt.  He was the beloved husband of Sharon Baugher Nickell, who was critically injured in the accident.
Born Jan, 30, 1962 near Browning, he was the son of Jimmie and Alma Mills Nickell. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1985 to 1988 following graduation from high school in 1980.  Jason worked at Farmland Foods in Milan for the past 13 years.
Those who were honored to know Jason remember his wry sense of humor. Some of his favorite hobbies and activities were traveling with Sharon as they discovered small craft stores and roamed garage sales. Jason enjoyed tinkering with small engines, hunting deer, fishing and gathering mushrooms. “Jason was a good friend and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it” was a frequent tribute from friends and colleagues. Some of Jason’s fondest memories include marrying his wife, Sharon on May 9, 1992, the birth of his grandchildren, supporting and celebrating their achievements and preparing “Pappy’s” Sunday breakfast.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Brian) Eckert; grandchildren Darian, Quentin and Lucas; mother, Alma Ellen Nickell; sisters, Judy (Leonard) Greathouse, JoAnn Asher, Jeanne (Steve) Bauman and Joy (Carlos Diaz) Nickell; brothers, James (Lillian) Nickell and Jeff Nickell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jason was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Buster Nickell; nephew, Jimmie Junior Tyrrell; brother, John Dail Nickell; sister and brother-in-law, Jan Ellen Tyrrell and Gary Tyrrell; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Coda Baugher and Ruby Corbin Baugher.
Memorial donations are suggested to the donor’s choice and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
