The win was the third of the year for Trenton over Putnam County in duals. The Lady Bulldogs topped Putnam County as part of a triangular match that also included Chillicothe on Aug. 26 and defeated the Lady Midgets on the road in Unionville in a head-to-head match on Sept. 1.
The third meeting was by far the closest, however, as the Lady Bulldogs struggled a bit in their return to their home course. Kaitlyn Mounce, Karley McCollum and Lana Raymo all finished with scores of 55 while Jordain Oshel and Hannah Kennebeck each carded a 61. Kyle Blanchard of Putnam County was the medalist for the dual after carding a score of 47.
“Just like in other sports, sometimes you go out and don’t do as well as you are capable of doing and you are fortunate to walk out with a win,” Lady Bulldogs’ Coach Jeremy Austin said. “We didn’t play our best game, but we did come out with a win. Now, we start getting ready for the Chillicothe Tournament. We know it will be a tough tournament against some tough competition so we look forward to getting back out on our course and polishing a few things that need polished.”
In junior varsity action for the Lady Bulldogs, Werthen Gass carded a 59 and Anna Shackelford had a 69. Putnam County had just five players, so no JV scores were kept.
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to the Chillicothe Tournament on Thursday before closing out the regular season with a home dual against Richmond on Sept. 24.
