A Tina woman was killed and two others injured during an accident Friday night on Highway 65, five miles north of Chillicothe.
Karen S. McCollum, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in truck driven by Perry McCollum, 74, also of Tina. He received serious injuries and was taken by air helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. The driver of the other vehicle, Ronnie L. Fauss, 53, of Corder, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the car driven by Fauss was northbound and failed to negotiate a curve. The truck travelled into the southbound lane, striking the McCollum truck head-on. Both vehicles were demolished.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Joe Rongey and Sgt. G.D. Ward, assisted by Cpl. S.E. Pritzel, Trooper J.C. Daly, Trooper Q.R. McConkey and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
