THS Alumni Gather For Annual Weekend Events

Officers were re-elected and donations were made when the Board of Directors of the Foundation Trust for THS held their annual meeting on Sunday afternoon as a part of the THS Alumni activities.
Dr. John Holcomb, Stephen Muff, Steve Maxey and Becky Allnutt Cochran were re-elected to the offices of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, respectively, during the reorganization of the board. Nominations for two additional members were approved and will be announced upon their acceptance to the board.
Members voted to contribute $5,000 to the THS Ag-Education Department to support the construction of a Food Processing Lab in the H. Frank Hoffman Agriculture Building and to purchase two more picnic tables for use by patrons at C.F. Russell Stadium. Other requests were presented by Trenton R-9 Superintendent Dan Wiebers and tabled for further consideration.
Board members agreed to pursue the investment of funds with the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri, noting administrative support available to the local Foundation as well as a better return on investments. Plans for an audit of the foundation and alumni association books were made.
Members expressed their appreciation to the Class of 1990 for their leadership with this year’s event and Kevin Hurst and Jill Hurst Groebl were announced as co-chairpersons of next year’s 25-year class celebration. Planning has begun for the 2016 event with discussion heard by the board on the Friday night hospitality, Saturday open house, Saturday night dance and the Sunday brunch along with the publication of the alumni newsletter.
Classes of 1936, 1941
and 1943
The THS classes of 1936, 1941 and 1943 were hosts to 25 people for a luncheon held Saturday, Sept.6 at the First Christian Church Family Activity Building. A catered meal was served.
Mary Lou Crawford and Don Woodard registered the guests as they arrived. The dining tables held vases of black and gold flowers. Bob Witten was master of ceremonies and Louis Watkins gave the invocation. After the meal, Bob Witten extended a welcome to everyone. He then read two humorous poems relating to the older ones present. He announced that the 2016 luncheon for Labor Day weekend would be held on Sept. 3 at the Lakeview Restaurant. After much catching up with each other for the past year, Max Oyler led the group with the singing of the “Alma Mater.”

Class of 1947
The THS Class of 1947 held its reunion on Saturday at Lakeview Restaurant. A buffet meal was held. Visiting was enjoyed and pictures taken. Lovice Crawford closed the meeting with a prayer.
Those attending were J.D. and Phyllis Wood of Newton, IA, J.R. and Rosamond Connell of Marinett, WI, Margaret Truitt Ferguson of Jameson and Bob and Phyllis Peery Anderson, Gordon and Betty Hamilton McCullough, Charles and Lovice Daniels Crawford, Tom and Dixie Pickett, Hazel Terry and Peggy Wales Tharp, all of Trenton.
The class will met on Oct. 5 at the Lakeview for breakfast.
Class of 1948 and 1949
The THS Classes of 1948 and 1949 met at Selby Hall on Saturday.
Time was spent telling about silly tricks and pranks when attending junior high and high school. A get-together is planned for next year.
Those attending were Naomi and Raymond Scott, Carrol and Freddie Key, Marylin Hoffman, Bob McVay, Jim Berlin, Talma Joiner, Ruth Barnett and daughter, Carla Marroquin, Bob Allen, Pete and Delores Peery, Betty and Jim Evans, Doris Ferguson, Pat McWilliams, Barbara Knudsen, Harry Bratton and Laura Brown.
Class of 1953
The THS Class of 1953 met Saturday for lunch at Royal Inn in Trenton. There were 15 class members present and five visitors present.
Wayne Wade gave the opening prayer. Time was spent visiting and bringing all up to date as to how the last year has gone.
Present were Sonna (Foland) and Bill Wiggins, Betty (Hein) and Bob Chenoweth, Don and Barbara Johnson, Hazel (Harvey) Hobbs, Nancy (Jones) Bland, Delores (Arneson) Newton and Sharon (Keen) Ferris, all of Trenton; Bob and Evelyn Tapscott of West Plains; Wayne and Lois Wade of Chillicothe and Max Grisamore of Jamesport.
A luncheon is planned at next year’s alumni celebration.
Class of 1954
Six members from the THS Class of 1954 and three guests met for lunch at Lakeview Restaurant on Saturday, Sept. 5 to commemorate 61 years since graduation.
Attending were Bob Ballinger of Excelsior Springs, Bob Lager of Raymore, Joetha Roberts Harris and Wayne Brassfield of Trenton; and Carolyn Louderback Brown and Lynn Westcott of Spickard.
Guests were Beverly Ballinger, Murial Brassfield and Harry Brown.
Class of 1957
Members of the THS Class of 1957 met for dinner on Saturday. Following dinner and a business meeting, classmates enjoyed visiting and sharing memories.

Class of 1960
Several members of the THS Class of 1960 attended a group brunch-luncheon on Saturday, Sept. 5.
This year’s activities marked the 55th anniversary of graduating from THS for the “Class of 60” and a special gathering was held at the Lakeview Restaurant to celebrate the occasion. Forty-three classmates and family participated, including 26 Trenton graduates from seven different states of the “USA” and one who resides in Mexico.
It seemed that all of those in attendance really enjoyed seeing each other, sharing family events, histories and just “catching up.”
Everyone had a great time and most were involved in other weekend activities.
Class of 1961
The Trenton High School Class of ’61 celebrated their 54th year since graduation at Royal Inn with a pizza party, Sept. 5. A short business meeting was conducted by class president Charlene Drake. Ms. Drake asked for ideas for the 55-year reunion to be held next year.

Class of 1965
The THS Class of 1965 met for lunch on Saturday at El Nopal, then for a renion at the Ketcham Community Center.
With 91 in attendance and from as far away as Anchorage, AL, it was the largest class reunion. The class honored former teacher Gene Whitmer and his wife. The evening included old pictures, a photo booth, a video of class members and honoring the 23 members of the military were in attendance. On Sunday, a barbecue was held at the Binney farm.

Class of 1970
The THS Class of 1970 met to celebrate their 45-year reunion on Saturday night at the Wild Onion.
Alan Crawford welcomed the classmates and their guests. David Pease led the remembrance of the deceased classmates and Stephen Sharp asked the blessing for the dinner.
Alan Crawford presided over the election of officers for the 50th reunion. Officers elected were Alan Crawford, president; Joy Jackson, vice president and Linda Robertson, secretary-treasurer.
