The Trenton Lady Bulldog tennis team ran away with an easy dual victory on Tuesday at the THS tennis courts, hosting and defeating the LeBlond Golden Eagles 8-1.
Trenton wasted little time taking complete control of the dual, winning all six singles matches. Claire Utley scored an 8-4 victory at number one and Hannah Farmer picked up an 8-5 win at number two. Lauren Dolan won 8-3 at number three, Codi DeLong won 8-4 at number four and Samantha Mihalovich grabbed an 8-1 victory at number five. Madison Searcy closed singles play with an exclamation mark for the Lady Bulldogs, winning 8-0.
In doubles play Trenton’s Utley and Dolan won 8-6 before LeBlond got on the board with an 8-6 win over Farmer and DeLong. The final doubles match of the night was forfeited by LeBlond, giving Mihalovich and Searcy a win and Trenton the dual by an 8-1 count.
“We had a great win tonight and we are hoping it will give us momentum for the rest of the week,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach Bobbie Hainey said.
No junior varsity matches were played due to a lack of players from LeBlond.
Trenton’s tennis team will stay busy, traveling to Chillicothe today for the Chillicothe Quad Tournament. Trenton will be in action on Thursday and Friday as well, traveling to Cameron for a 4 p.m. dual with the Lady Dragons on Thursday and St. Joseph Friday for the Benton Tennis Tournament. That event is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
