Lindsay Rae Hauck of Lee’s Summit and Derek Matthew Skidmore of Greenwood, at left, were married at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2015 at the Community Christian Church on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. Lindsay Rae Hauck of Lee’s Summit and Derek Matthew Skidmore of Greenwood were married at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2015 at the Community Christian Church on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. Pastor Ryan Schreckenghaust officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ethan and Barb Hauck of Lee’s Summit and the granddaughter of Mrs. Pat Hauck McWilliams of Trenton and the late Phil Hauck. The groom is the son of James and Karen Skidmore of Greenwood.
Eric Hauck of Trenton, uncle of the bride, and Elaine Schraml, friend of the bride, gave the scripture reading.
Jonathon Antle was the organist. Raelynne Burns, cousin of the bride, sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Other music included “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” as the parents and grandparents entered, “All of Me” as the bridal party entered, “The Wedding March” as the bride entered and “Marry You” during the recessional.
Molly Bergstrom, cousin of the bride, and Natalie Skidmore, cousin of the groom, were the candlelighters.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a full-length vintage lace and tulle-skirted gown, which had been worn by her grandmothers, Mrs. Pat Hauck McWilliams, on her wedding day to Phil Hauck on June 7, 1953. The dress was accented by a rhinestone belt and tiara and the bride wore black and gold wrestling shoes. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, peonies and roses, accented by feathers and brooches given by family and friends.
The matrons of honor were Amanda Konopka of Niles, IL and Alicia Gedwillo of Lee’s Summit, friends of the bride. The bridesmaids were Valerie Cowden of Burlington Junction, Tiffany Flynn of St. Louis and Lauren Wilson of Arlington, TX, friends of the bride, and Kara Gruber of Cedar Rapids, IA, cousin of the bride. They wore short-length black organza dresses an carried white garden roses and peonies, accented with ostrich feather tips.
The flower girls were Macey Burns, cousin of the bride, and Averie Gedwillo, daughter of the matron of honor. They wore floor-length organza dresses with baskets of white rose petals.
Gracie Gruber and Jonah Barta, cousins of the bride, carried the rings and were brought in by a satin-covered wagon with black lace.
Mike Enright of Kansas City, friend of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Andrew Agosta of Chicago, IL, Chris Beeman of Kansas City, Scott Benyo of St. Louis, Matt Kasper of Kansas City, William Kenney of Kansas City, Ryan Land of Lake Winnebago, Jeremy Layden of St. Petersburg, FL, Michael Siemers of Webster Groves, Kenneth Sikich of Kansas City and Blake Thomure of Encinitas, CA, friends of the groom, and Zane Hauck of Nashville, TN, brother of the bride.
The ushers were Joshua Barta and Andrew Bergstrom, cousins of the bride.
The reception followed the ceremony and was held at the Urban Event Historic Firestone Building in Kansas City with cocktails, dinner and dancing and sparklers to send off the couple.
Decorations of vintage and Great Gatsby style of ivory, whites and golds were used. The bride’s table was covered with honey gold sequined linens. The table had crystal candelabras towering with white ostrich feathers and orchids, floating candles, glass beaded chargers and mirrored place cards for each member of the wedding party.
The guest tables were decorated with glass containers incorporating white garden roses, peonies, ranunculus and orchids accented with feathers and glowed with floating candles. The long guest tables were accented with honey gold sequin runners to match the bride’s head table.
The cream and black fondant cake was accented with pearls and feathers and sat upon glass fluted vases with clear glass and floating candles to make the cake look as if it were floating in mid-air.
Flower arrangements featured white and ivory roses, peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas and orchids. Votive candles and floating candles in glass cylinders were dispersed throughout with honey gold sequin linens and table runners.
Addison Hauck, cousin of the bride, and Emily Nesse and Jenna Elling, cousins of the groom, were in charge of the guest book and programs. Amy Burns, cousin of the bride, was the personal attendant. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hauck and Mr. and Mrs. John Repp were the host and hostesses.
The couple took a wedding trip to St. Maarten and are now at home in Greenwood.
The bride has a bachelor of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg. She is a registered nurse in the emergency department at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
The groom holds a bachelor of business administration degree from UMC and a master of business administration degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is a certified regulatory compliance manager for Dickinson Financial Corporation.
