Trenton R-9 School Superintendent Dan Wiebers presented the program at Thursday’s Trenton Rotary Club meeting.
Wiebers is in his first year as superintendent, having spent the past nine years as Trenton High School principal. He introduced THS Principal Ron Franklin and Trenton Middle School Assistant Principal Kasey Bailey, both of whom are new administrators this year. Franklin comes to Trenton from Rich Hill. Bailey has been a middle school social studies teacher at Trenton the past seven years.
Wiebers talked about the BoardDocs program that the R-9 District is using to transmit information about board meetings and other school information. The program can be accessed through the school district website, www.trentonr9.k12.mo.us., clicking on the event (such as school board meeting), which takes the user to a page where the user then clicks on “public site.” That takes the user to the page that includes documents associated with the event. By clicking on the actual document icon, persons can access what is to happen or has happened during that event.
During the business meeting, Wiebers was initiated as the club’s newest member. A $705 donation was presented to Ginny Wikoff, representing the Backpack Buddies Program. The money was raised during last spring’s “Trenton’s Got Talent” event, sponsored by the Rotary Club.
It was announced that beginning on Sept. 3, the club will be meeting in the First Christian Church Family Activities Center while remodeling is being done in the fellowship hall. Information about the recent Missouri Day Parade Committee meeting was presented, with the next meeting set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Preferred Family Healthcare.
President Steve Taylor showed a video, featuring Rotary International President Ravi Ravindran. He told about a new “Rotary Global Rewards” program for members that provides service discounts at businesses around the world. Taylor also announced that this month marks one year of no polio cases being reported in Africa.
Next week’s Rotary Program chairman is Duane Urich.
