Building Board Acts On Properties

Aug 4, 2015 | Headline News

The Building and Nuisance Board of the Trenton City Council took action on several properties during a meeting on Monday night.
City Clerk Cindy Simpson said the board scheduled public hearings on three properties after nuisances were declared. The properties are located at 1716 Carnes St. owned by Duane Couch; 600 Normal St., a garage owned by Doug Little; and 120 Highland St., Trailer 19, owned by Robert Peterie. Mrs. Simpson said three other properties were also scheduled to be acted on with a declaration of nuisance, however, one at 1428 Chestnut St., owned by Lyle Investments, was delayed pending further investigation while a second was put on hold at 1110 Rural Street after having been purchased by Santana Moldanado. The process will have to begin again at 1002 W. 14th St., owned by Duane and Donita Couch, as a second name has been added to ownership of the property.
Public hearings were held on property at 402 E. 17th St., owned by Penny Bell, and 501 Grundy St., owned by Glen Brill. Both were approved for facts and findings to be completed by the building inspector.
Facts and findings will be filed on deeds of properties at 1001 Main St., owned by Larry Gilworth; 1309 Tinsman Ave. and the west side of Donaldson Street, owned by Troy Hanes; 1030 Laclede St., owned by John Hanson; and 1427 Merrill St., owned by John Limkemann. Facts and findings filings allow for the property to be condemned.
The board voted to begin the declaration of nuisance process on property at 306 E. 10th Ct., owned by Steve Muff.
The board reviewed the list of properties on the 2015-16 demolition list and asked for bids to be sought. The board will then review the bids and determine which ones can be done. The city has budgeted $20,000 for demolition projects this year.
In other business, the board chose Stan Lowrey to serve as chairman while Tom Klinginsmith will be the vice chairman. Other board members are Larry Huffstutter, Vickie Meservey, Jeremy Soptic, Luke Gibson and David Mihalovich.
