Trucks of all makes and models participated in Thursday night’s “Tuff Truck” competition at the North Central Missouri Fair grandstand. Dairy Show
There were nine head of dairy cattle entered in Thursday’s dairy show, where Tawnya Hardy of Brookfield exhibited both the supreme champion dairy female, an aged Holstein that was also named the senior champion, and the reserve champion dairy female, a junior heifer calf Holstein, which was also named the junior champion. Miss Hardy was also the senior showmanship winner, with Cade Claycomb of Spickard being named the junior showmanship winner.
Other winners in the show included Amy McLaughlin of Unionville, who had the reserve junior champion, an Ayreshire, and Tawnya Hardy, who exhibited the reserve senior champion, a three-year-old Holstein.
Rabbit Show
A French Lop took top honors at the NCM Fair Rabbit Show, also held Thursday and attracting 37 entries.
The rabbit was exhibited by Katie Graham of Savannah, with the reserve champion being a Mini Rex exhibited by Brylee Bowles of Bethany. Other results included:

There were 14 entries in the Poultry/Fowl Show, with Brady Bothwell of Chillicothe exhibiting the Grand Champion of Show and Evan Tharp of Milan exhibiting the reserve champion. Bothwell also was named the senior showman, with Evan Tharp named the junior showman.
Other champions included: Large Fowl – Brady Bothwell, champion, Caitlin Jones of Chillicothe, reserve champion.
Bantam – Evan Tharp, champion and reserve.
Turkey – Jacob Hall of Trenton, champion.

Rock Barn Entries
The Rock Barn area of the fair reported a lighter turnout in exhibits and exhibitors at this year’s fair.
The Rock Barn houses the home-related exhibits for youth, adults, convalescent and learning centers with entries in such areas as woodworking, canning, arts and crafts, quilting and horticulture. Judges commended the quality of most items as being of good to excellent
The number of exhibitors in the youth section of the fair remained fairly consistent with prior years with 47 individuals showing. In special categories, Gene Schreffler received special woodworking recognition (adult) for his blanket chest and picture frame. In Youth Special Woodworking, Haley Kidd received recognition for her double chair bench with table and pig sorting board. Gage Swindler was recognized for this tic/tac/toe board and pig sorting board, Robert Urich for his name plaque, Rebecca Urich for a wood spinner and Logan Caldwell for a walnut bootjack.
In food related items, Loretta Ray was the recipient of the Bessie Chambers Award recognizing her entries for the most food-related items in the adult section (61 canned items). Trinity Gaunt and Elliana Gaunt were co-winners of the Loretta Ray Award for most canned goods in the youth division, with both entering 17 items and receiving identical numbers of blue and red ribbon awards.
In the Jarden Home Goods Ball-Kerr Awards, Loretta Ray received a first in the fruits category with Caroline Souders receiving a second. In the vegetable category, Loretta Ray received a first and Lana Snider received a second. Caroline Souders received a first in the pickle category and Dale Souders received a second. Soft spread recognition was given to Loretta Ray, first, and Bonnie Moore, second. Youth receiving recognition were Elliana Gaunt, fruits and soft spreads, and Trinity Gaunt, pickles and vegetables.
Items entered by local convalescent homes and learning center were also recognized.
Grundy County Learning Center saw 11 individuals entering a variety of items. Individuals receiving awards were K.D. Eaglen, 4 blue, 2 red; Dustin Evans, 4 blue, 2 red; Charles Gash, 3 blue; Brooke Houk, 2 blue; Brian Hughes, 2 blue; Pete Lovell, 3 blue, 1 red; Sharon Simmons, 4 blue, 2 red; Lyndon Smith, 3 blue, 2 red; Jason Snyder, 4 blue, 2 red; Jerry Stoller, 4 blue, 1 red; and Connie Thomas, 4 blue, 2 red.
